Tasks, Goals, and Partners
Lesedauer: 3 Minuten
The Austrian Society for Energy Sciences (ÖGEW) is a technical-scientific organization that focuses on modern energy sources and their process cycles for a sustainable future in Austria. The society exclusively pursues charitable purposes and sees itself as an interface between research and industry in the field of extraction, processing and application of energy sources.
Since its founding in 1960, ÖGEW has been promoting and maintaining interdisciplinary contacts. As a forum for the exchange of information and experiences in the Austrian hydrocarbon industry and energy sector as well as the associated industrial branches and institutions, the main focus of its activities is organizing conferences and lecture series, publishing scientific papers, and issuing the monthly journal EEK.
Our Mission:
- Promotion of Scientific Research, Technology, and Education in the Hydrocarbon Industry and Energy sector
- Support for the Sustainable and Future-Oriented Use of Energy Sources
- Building Bridges Between Research and Practice for Innovative Solutions
Goals of ÖGEW
- Ensuring Energy Supply through the responsible use of climate-neutral hydrocarbons and the development of alternative energy carriers.
- Contributing to Climate protection through the distribution of research and development results of new energy carriers, enhancement of energy efficiency, and reduction of CO2 emissions.
- Strengthening the Austrian Energy Sector through innovation and knowledge Transfer
These goals are founded on a decades-long symbiosis between science and industry, research and practice – a symbiosis that will become even more crucial in the future through working on economically and ecologically sustainable solutions.
ÖGEW is the platform for the exchange of ideas, serving as the interface for intelligent networking between scientific research and cost-effective, timely, and market-appropriate implementation.
Tasks of ÖGEW
ÖGEW promotes science, research, technology, and education through:
- Organizing Conferences, Lecture Series, and Workshops on current topics in the energy sector.
- Co-Publishing the Journal "EEK” (Technology & Transformation of Fossil and Green Energy Carriers) together with technical papers and industrial information
- Serving as a Platform for Exchange between science, economy, associations, authorities, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborating with DGMK and Other National and International Partners (WPC Energy)
The society is exclusively a nonprofit organisation.
