The Vienna Chamber of Commerce and Industry represents the interests of around 144,000 companies in Vienna. It is one of nine provincial chambers and the largest chamber of commerce in Austria.
Based on the Economic Chamber Act, the Vienna Chamber of Commerce is a democratic, self-governing body, funded by its members, and consequently independent from public authorities. Due to its statutory advocacy role, it can provide the best possible framework for representing the interests of over 100 different business lines in the following sectors:
- Crafts and Trades
- Industry
- Commerce
- Banking and Insurance
- Transport and Logistics
- Tourism and Leisure
- Information and Consulting
The dual organizational structure makes it ideally suited to the task. Elected sector representatives on the one hand and 900 employees on the other hand work together for the benefit of the Viennese economy. The advantage of this structure is that the elected representatives run their companies and thus know the aspects of business life in every detail.
The Vienna Chamber of Commerce and Industry provides a full range of services for its members. It is dedicated to supporting Vienna’s entrepreneurs in all matters related to finding the right business location, setting up a business and other administrative and legal matters including representation in labour court. Viennese companies doing business abroad are supported by more than 100 field offices around the world.
The Vienna Chamber of Commerce and Industry runs several educational institutes including business schools and the institute for vocational adult education. It is not only the biggest provider of education in Austria, but it is an active knowledge broker in all matters of the economy using the most modern, future-oriented technologies, media, methods and processes.
